Introducing new inks! Successful conversion to SIEGWERK printing inks at the Ilsenburg location.

Several factors in particular led to the switch-over in inks, in particular sustainability and the potential synergies between Christiansen Print’s three European locations. In the words of Björn Vorlop: “At our sites in Northeim and Garancières, production using the advanced inks from SIEGWERK had already proven their value. It made sense to bundle demand by adding in Ilsenburg with this partner.”

The Ilsenburg team worked closely with SIEGWERK long before the actual ink switch to ensure that all factors had been properly addressed. The changeover itself was handled in a compact and targeted manner over a weekend — no production downtime required: “Friday marked the close of production with the previous inks, and on Sunday we started up with the new one,“ Vorlop notes.

 There were a variety of obvious steps that needed to be taken, including pumping any remaining ink out of the tubes to the dosing stations, multiple cleaning and rinsing passes, and then filling the system and dosing equipment with the new inks. "While that was going on, we were running a series of tests to ensure that we could match the results from the previous inks and print tasks”. The ink mixture formulas also needed to be reset to handle the new products. By Sunday, the new family of inks was ready to go.

 Perfect preparation, strong teamwork and a shared dedication to quality, down to the fine details: these factors ensured that the switch-over ran smoothly. For Björn Vorlop: “During the first week of production, we had further strong support from SIEGWERK, who reviewed test samples and helped us immediately resolve any issues that arose. Both the SIEGWERK employees who were on site around the clock and our colleagues from the Christiansen Print ink lab did a fantastic job!”
